Changing blog address to existing address
-
Hi,
I used to use “lcuncensored.wordpress.com” and it still shows up as a HIDDEN site. I changed the URL to “dgosgt.wordpress.com” but now I want to go back to “lcuncensored.”
Is there an easy way to do this? When I tried to do it from “change address” it said that “lcuncensored” is already taken — the site exists but there is no content.
If I use export from the first site and export it to the url I want to use, how effective is that? My site is exactly how I want it and I really don’t want to lose all the customization.
Please help.
Thank you.
Lissette

Hi there. You won’t be able to change the address to one that is already registered.
The only way you can switch addresses now is by moving your content manually. You can move your content (posts, pages, categories, tags, comments) from the Tools menu in the dashboard. https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/
Your theme, settings, and any customizations you made you’ll have to redo on the new address. I’m afraid there’s no way to automatically transfer them over.
If your current site has active upgrades you should be able to transfer them from the My Upgrades page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#transferring-upgrades
If you want to transfer your followers, post here when you’re ready and add “modlook” to the tags so staff can do that for you.
Note, however, that staff can’t transfer followers who follow your RSS feed on other readers, so it’s a good idea to publish a post announcing your move when you’re ready. You might also want to look at the Site Redirect upgrade that will automatically forward any permalinks to your current address (for example where someone else linked to one of your posts) to the new one instead. https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
