Changing Blog Admin Username

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello!

I’ve currently made my primary domain cadenansen.com and I am wanting to change the original website user admin name to CadeNansen (currently egotrippinn).

I created a new user admin, with the desired name of CadeNansen, in hopes of deleting the other user, EgoTrippinn but I can’t do that.

Could you tell me how I can change the main user admin username, or how I can transfer ownership to the second user admin I have on the site, and delete the user EgoTrippinn?

Hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help!

    Hi there,
I could be wrong, but I think this has to do with your profile. If you go to your wordpress.com account and log-in, in the upper-right-hand corner, there should be a little circle with your profile avatar (so yours will look like a circle with your grey ‘CN’ logo.)

    1. Click that circle.
    2. Change your public display name to ‘CadeNansen’
    3. Save!

When you go back to look at your admin, it should have changed your display name–I had to refresh it once or twice once I clicked through, but that seemed to change my displayed Admin name.

    I hope that helps. =)

    Thank you for the reply!
That changes the name that is displayed to the public (I think).
I’m trying to find out how to change the actual username.

Currently, my username is egotrippinn and my display name is Cade Nansen. I’m trying to change my username to cadenansen as well…. but I can’t figure out how. lol.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hmm, try these steps:

    Change Username
    1. Log into WordPress.com using your existing username

    2. Access your Account Settings and enter the username you want under Username

    3. In the box Confirm Username that appears, enter your new username again

    4. The next step will allow you to change or create a matching blog address:
If your current username matches your blog address:
Selecting “Yes, change example.wordpress.com to match my new username and discard the old address” will change the address of your current blog. If your new user name is newusername, your blog’s address will be changed to newusername.wordpress.com. (You won’t be able to use the old address again.)

Selecting “Yes, change example.wordpress.com to match my new username and create an empty blog with the old address” will change the address of your current blog (if your new user name is newusername, your blog’s address will be changed to newusername.wordpress.com), and create an empty blog at your old blog address.

Selecting “Yes, create a new blog to match my new username” will create a new blog for you. If your new user name is newusername, the new blog will be newusername.wordpress.com

Selecting “No, don’t create a matching address.” will just change your username and make no changes to the address of your blog.
Read the information presented on this page very carefully. Important:You will not be able to change your username back. The old name will be reserved and no one will have access to it. URLs for other services such as Gravatar and IntenseDebate may be affected.

    5. Click Save Username to save your changes and update your username.

Once you’ve done all of that you’ll be rocking WordPress.com with your new username.

Did that do the trick? =)
