Changing blog domain address

    Hello!
    I am thinking about changing the address of my blog – currently I have anicelittleplace.wordpress.com and I would like to change the first, eg. iwanttochangethispart.wordpress.com. Does this mean I’ll lose the posts I’ve published so far and if so, is there a (free) way to prevent this?

    Hi there,

    We cannot edit any blog URLs. If you want to change the .wordpress.com blog address ie. the URL starting with http:// then you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to do that and the URL you desire must be available. If so, then you can change the URL by using the guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

    Be sure to locate the correct page http://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/dashboard-e1371648470893.png

    Changing a URL is a permanent and irreversible act. No changed or deleted blog URLs are recycled here, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

    You will not lose content but if do not purchase the site redirect upgrade every original link to the content found in search engines and everywhere else the links appear will be broken. That means that when clicked they will produce a 404 page not found error.

    Thank you so much for your thorough and quick answer! I have just one more question… if I do decide to change the address, but before I do so, I change all the published posts into drafts then change the address and then publish them again, will this also change the original link and the link won’t appear to be broken?
