changing blog name
-
I was using the blog name authorjohnmclay and got rid of it without cancelling it completely. Now I’d like to use it for my current site, but it tells me it already exists. Is there a way I can use that site name again?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
authorjohnmclay.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.
Are you sure you didn’t cancel it?

From the message I got while trying to access your old address, I am almost sure that you have deleted your site. Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to reuse its WordPress.com address.

Yes, thank you. I found that if I upgrade I can register the name without the .wordpress part. Thank you very much for your help.

Good to hear that you’ve found the solution.
I wish you a lot of success with your site! -
Is it possible for me to change my blog name and keep my existing blog content? I have the basic wordpress blog with no upgrades at the moment.
Thank you!

@travelglossary: yes it is. You can change your blog URL by following the steps here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
It allows you to change your blog’s address without losing anything. Note that the final step in changing your site address allows you to keep or discard the old address. If discarded, it can never be re-used.
