Changing blog site address

    Hello,

    I would like to change the web address for my blog. The change would be very minor (like just a letter possibly based on what’s available). I tried following the directions WordPress support has for changing a blog address, but ‘change blog address’ doesn’t pop up when I hover over mine. Is that because I’m using the free hosting option, so I don’t technically ‘own’ it? If that’s the case, is there any way to moving the current blog to a new address? I only have a few posts right now, so I could just create another one, but I thought there might be an easier way to do that.

    We cannot edit any blog URLs. If you want to change the .wordpress.com blog address ie. the URL starting with http:// then you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to do that and the URL you desire must be available. If so, then you can change the URL by using the guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/ Then all the content will be the same only the URLs will change and nothing else.

    Changing a URL is meant to be a permanent and irreversible act. No changed or deleted blog URLs are recycled here, regardless of who registered and deleted them and the only exceptions are made are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago

    Hey,

    Your problem could be that you need to use a different browser. For ways to fix it, follow this link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

    Also, are you the owner of the site? There are some functions that only the owner of the site can complete. I don’t see it on this document, but this could still be your issue. You can read more about this here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

    If you aren’t the site owner, ask them to do it or have them transfer the site to you.https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

    Thank you both for such quick responses. I checked to make sure that I was logged in as the owner, which I believe I am because my role can only be an administrator. After confirming that and reading your suggestions, I tried doing this action in both Chrome and Safari, but both times only “Leave Blog” pops up when I hover over the address section on “My Blogs”. I have to step away from my computer for the rest of the evening most likely. (I wasn’t expecting such quick responses!) I’ll try fixing some of the other browser issues that I might be experiencing above either later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks!
