Changing blog site address

  I have an existing blog site with wordpress. I would like to change it’s name. What happens when I change it to new address:-
  1. Will my existing blog page be renamed to the new site address without any loss of data?
  2. I do understand that old relationship will be lost but I am hoping that my all blogs will remain as-is?
  Pls help

  Hi there,

  Suppose you have a site address: mywpsite.wordpress.com. Once you change the “mywpsite” part of mywpsite.wordpress.com, the old address will stop working. Links to your old address, including search engine results, will be broken. Visitors will not be redirected to your new site address. The old address will not be available for use again.

  How to avoid this?

  To avoid this issue you can add a Site Redirect upgrade and follow the process as mentioned here: https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/#changing-your-wordpress-com-site-address
