Changing blog URL after upgrading

    How can I switch to a new URL once I upgrade my WP plan?

    I’m not looking to map a domain, I simply want to change my URL from siobhansnovelties.wordpress.com to a new URL with just “.com” at the end. I do not want to keep “siobhansnovelties.”

    I know I’ll have to switch from the free plan to the personal plan so I can get just .com, but I’m unclear of how to switch from one URL to another but still keep my posts on my blog.

    Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello!

    Here are the steps you need to take for changing your wordpress.com link to a .com domain:

    1. After you are logged into your WordPress.com account, you should first go to https://wordpress.com/plans/siobhansnovelties.wordpress.com and update your WordPress.com plan to the Personal one
    2. After you do this, you will see a new notification with a green background letting you know that you can claim a free .com domain now, that you have bought the Personal plan (check this screenshot here and you will see the green notification I’m talking about: https://mapetrei.files.wordpress.com/2017/07/screen-shot-2017-07-28-at-22-57-53.png)
    3. After you click the “CLAIM” link, you can simply search for a domain of your preference and follow the steps on screen
