Changing Blog URL, from one account to another
-
Hi there! Some context: @cherrybelly has become sort of my online handle.
I had previously registered cherrybelly.wordpress.com to my old account using hotmail. I seemed to have forgotten this fact though, and later when a gmail account became my main WordPress account, I registered cheryltaro.wordpress.com to it (seeing as cherrybelly was made unavailable…….by myself) and started blogging from there.
I’d like to change my primary blog address back to cherrybelly.wordpress.com, but due to my careless error years before, I can’t seem be able to do it without losing my stats :( I have tried transferring cherrybelly.wordpress to my main account, but this means that I would be ‘starting afresh’ on a ‘new blog’. I’d like to keep my content and stats, but change the URL. Is there any way I can do this? Would love any advice!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

ALSO some additional notes:
I was considering deleting the “cherrybelly.wordpress.com” site, so that it may become available for use again (and then I could simply switch URLs), but some guidelines have written that deleting it will render it unavailable for use again :( -
If these sites were registered under separate WordPressdotcom accounts, you should be able to transfer ownership of the site from one account to the other following these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi again, we cross-posted. That information is correct. DO NOT delete the site as it will indeed render the site address unavailable.
-
Hi!! Thank you so much for your speedy response!! :)
Yes, I have followed the instructions on that page to transfer ownership to my main account (and I absolutely loved how effortless it was!!!), but I realised that this meant I would lose my stats, which is a little heartbreaking. Is there any way around this? :)
Is it possible to write in to WP to explain the situation and hopefully have the ban on “deleted” addresses lifted? Thank you once again! -
Hello again, The policy regarding deleted sites is a long-standing one and for good reason. If you wish to learn more about that, you’ll want read this Support document https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
To the best of my knowledge and experience, stats are not lost when transferring ownership of a site from one WordPressdotcom account to another. If you just did the transfer, they may resolve themselves within a day or so. If not, please return to this thread and add the MODLOOK tag to the Tags section of the forum thread sidebar for Staff assistance with this issue.

Hi there again! :)
It’s not that I lost the stats to the newly transferred site, “Site B”! Site B is new and doesn’t’ have stats, but the original “Site A” does! Unfortunately, Site B is the one with my preferred URL address.
I had exported all the content in my original site Site A to the new Site B. Site A has my original stats, and after importing to the new Site B, the original stats didn’t follow (which I am assuming now that it does not work that way?)
I’m wondering if there is any way around this! It’s sad to see my stats completely washed away due to the URL change T_T I’d love to hear your advice again! Thank you so much :)

Hi, this thread is tagged for Staff to help with transferring your stats.
Stats should stay if you transfer ownership of the site from account A to account B. If you export/import the content, that is a different process than what I described above.
Best wishes.
-
Just to be extra sure, please let us know which site the stats should be transferred from and which site they should be transferred to. :)
-
Hi again!! Thanks for the prompt response!! :D
Site A: cheryltaro.wordpress.com – “old” blog, high stats
Site B: cherrybelly.wordpress.com – “new” blog, no statsBoth sites are under the same account now! :) I don’t think it’s so much of a Transfer Ownership issue anymore!
I wish to have the stats in Site A transferred over to Site B, if it is possible.
Site B originally does not have high stats, as up until now, Site A has always been my main blog, although I now wish to use Site B’s URL address as my main instead. Is it at all a possibility? Thank you for your kind help Jennifer!! :)

Hi Cheryl
I’ve merged those stats for you, so you’ll see all your historic stats if you go to the stats page for cherrybelly.wordpress.com now.
Would you like me to move your subscribers as well? I see the cheryltaro site has 86 subscribers, while cherrybelly has none. Let me know if I must move those over for you so your existing subscribers will receive notifications from the new site instead.
-
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!!!!! I can’t express how delighted I am right now – THANK YOU! :D Yes, please do help me move the subscribers over too, as I plan to shift over the new URL address. Thank you so so much! I am deeply grateful!
-
Your subscribers have also been moved, so will see the new site in their Reader feeds from here on out. I suggest you set the old site to private to prevent new people following it.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
