changing borderless image for static homepage. 2016 theme…

Hey guys, I posted this in the general forum and then realized this might be a better place. Here goes:

OK, so I’m trying to do something a little weird and I’m not sure it’s possible, but here goes: I use the 2016 theme which I LOVE. This theme gives you the option to have a separate static homepage, which I think is great. Very professional. i want to feature an image of the the logo that changes colors. It would be like a 5 second video that changes colors and like flashes… yeah. You get what I’m sayin? I don’t want there to be any borders on the image -Just the logo changing colors. Might be a graphic kind of a thing for say photoshop or another program similar? Could the 2016 theme support such a task? I actually made the video in windows movie maker, but it’s not supported by the 2016 theme when I try to upload it. Plus the windows movie maker has these ugly gray borders that don’t look sweet. Please let me know. Thanks…

The best way to probably have the logo change colors would be to create a .gif in Photoshop and create frames with different color variations of the logo. I’m sure there are other programs you could do it in too, such as AfterEffects or perhaps other simpler programs, but to me Photoshop would seem like the most straightforward way. See this link for a reference.

I haven’t personally used the 2016 theme but I haven’t found a theme that wouldn’t support uploading a .gif as the logo image file, and you could definitely always make it work if you have CSS customizations enabled.

To eliminate issues with borders (though when creating a .gif there shouldn’t be that issue) you’ll just want to make sure any white space around the circle logo or inside it (unless you are also changing the color of the white space inside the circle) are cut out of the logo.

@balanc3d, great idea on the animated gif. The only thing I’ll add is that when creating the image, make sure it is no wider than the content area for the page so that the WordPress software doesn’t resize it, which would kill the animation. The image you have in the content area right now is 318 x 278, so that would be fine. Insert it at full-size and centered. and that should make things go smoothly.
