My name was displayed at the top of each post this way: “by theresamoritz”. I wanted to change it to “by Theresa Moritz.” I tried changing the content of “How I want my name to be publicly displayed” from “theresamoritz” to “Theresa Moritz”. Two problems: 1, I tried several times, once yesterday and once today, to update my profile, but most of the time I got a message that said I had to refresh the page and try again. When I finally got the update, however, the “by theresamoritz” had disappeared altogether and been replaced by the date. What should I do?

Did you change themes recently? Are you the only contributor to your blog?

This topic is about Twenty Twelve, but the discussion is interesting. Manifest might be one of the “improved” themes.

Thanks for answering. No, I did not change themes recently. I’m the only contributor to the blog. I wondered if perhaps Manifest had been changed, which might account for the disappearance of the byline and what I think is a replacement, a bar with the date.

I see your author byline here http://apaintinginthelouvre.wordpress.com/2013/06/17/how-to-recognize-a-saint/

Curiouser and curiouser. When I use the URL you provided, timethief, I see the byline too, and also the line above the byline doesn’t contain a date, but when I sign in and then open the blog, I get the page without the byline and with the date in the line.

If you see the same changes on the live demo theme here http://manifestdemo.wordpress.com/ then Staff are making or have made changes to the template.

Post formats types may also be a factor in the display change.

Thanks. I went to the live demo theme for Manifest, and the byline was gone. Would the different results we got when opening the blog be caused by a change in updating the theme?

I looked at the information about post formats, but I don’t think they apply, since the byline, as far as I can tell, was a part of the Manifest default rather than created by me in what I did with individual posts.

What does it mean to call a topic about Twenty Twelve?
