Changing category links?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

    I have the category tags prominently displayed under each of my posts. In the past, clicking them would lead to the archive of said category on *my* blog, but now, clicking them leads to a search of all posts on WordPress related to that category. Is there any way I can change it back to how it was before?

    Thanks for your time.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    This is actually normal behavior. Please read this entry > http://en.support.wordpress.com/global-tags/

    The only way you can change this are:
    (1) Switch to the iNove theme and use the features under theme options to suppress category and tag display;
    (2) Keep the Daydream theme and purchase an annually renewable CSS upgrade and hide the categories and tags.

    Thank you for the reply. Though I think that is poor form that WordPress would change this on me. How new is this?

    And there’s no way to disable it without buying the CSS upgrade or to just stop using categories altogether?

    I have been a member for 5 years and in all that time this has been the status quo so I don’t know how you had a free hosted blog that did not have the categories and tags direct to the global tagging pages unless the theme was iNove.

    The tags and category links that are above or under your posts, lead to the wordpress.com global tags pages which will list all posts by all wordpress.com blogs that use a certain category or tag. It’s a way for people to find other blogs and posts blogging about the same things, and it ends up giving you quite a bit more search engine juice.

    The tags and category links in your tags and category widgets in your sidebar will lead to your local posts for that tag or category.

    Being included in global tag pages gives you a big boost in SEO, because everyone using that tag links to that global tag page; thus, search engines conclude it is a hugely important page. Then, that page links back to you when you’re listed in it, giving your blog gets some of it’s Googlejuice.
