changing chronology of POSTS in The Twenty Ten Theme
-
I have reset the “post date” on a few posts and they are now listed in correct order on the right hand menu, but the arrowed hotlinks in top left and right corners of the post, which lead readers through the chronology of posts, have not changed, and readers are sent in loops to later posts instead of earlier etc.
How to change these arrow links to reflect the new order of posts?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is not theme specific. Every time your edit a datestamp on a published post like that you break a link. That means if the post has been indexed by search engines when people click the original link in the SERPs (search engine page results) they get a 404 error message – page not found. I do not recommend doing this.

well, it is done (point noted however – will not do that again). So now I need to sort out the arrowed links in my rearranged posts… There should be a way edit that aspect of the post content. No?

All wordpress.com blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template. There is no way for us bloggers to access and edit the underlying template beneath our themes. Perhaps the arrows can be changed by CSS editing. See Note 2 below.

OK. So I killed the Evening Cantillations post that I had changed the date on. And made a new post of the same name with today’s date. However, there are still arrow links to the old one! When a post is killed, the links to it in the navigation of the site should also go… no?

Hi,
That could be a bug or simply a delay due to a caching issue. There is no such thing as a modlink tag. When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Hi @annenorman, can you send a link to the post that has broken links in it? I’d clicked on the Evening Cantillations one but its next and previous links were working for me.
I would also suspect cache but that does periodically clear itself. Are you still having trouble?
