Changing color in box behind text

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there, everyone. I’ve been searching the CSS help topics, but can’t seem to find anything that will help me write CSS code to change the white box (I think it’s called a container?) behind the text and header on this blog: http://feldmanstark.com It is currently white, and I’d like to make it a light gray, #F0F0F0.

    Also, while I’m here, can I also ask how to move the menu bar under the header?

    Thank you for any help you might be able to provide. :)

    I found this answer on another forum, but this code worked for me:

    #masthead {
    position: absolute;
    margin-top: 270px;
    margin-bottom: 20px;
    }

    #slider-wrapper {
    padding-top: 35px;
    }

    The “slide-wrapper” code will give a little padding to the content of the page that will be offset by the navigation being moved down.

    I’m still looking for a way to manipulate the size of the title image and also still trying to find the code to change the boxes in the title images.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you so much! The whole area–menu and header–is shifting down and completely out of the text body box entirely, now though.

    I wish I could see the CSS of the theme itself! :D

    @concept8llc & bellafortedesign:
    The suggested code is for Triton Lite. CSS editing is theme-specific: code designed for one theme is not supposed to be used on a different theme. It might not work at all (if the other theme doesn’t have these selectors), or it might produce erratic results (because structure, dimensions etc differ).

    @bellafortedesign: The best way to examine your page and identify elements, selectors etc is the Firebug add-on in Firefox.
    But you can also see the stylesheet of the theme by itself. See this post of mine:

    Where is the theme CSS and how do I edit it?

    My apologies, I’m still fairly new at WordPress and I forgot to specify the theme I was using. I hope I didn’t confuse you even more, bellefortedesign!

    Thanks for your help, justpi.

    @concept8llc, no worries at all! I’m appreciative of the time you took to read the post and share what worked for you, so thanks! I’m new to WordPress and am muddling around in CSS again after taking a class a few years back.

    @justpi, thank you so much! Your post is very helpful. I know Safari has Developer tools, and I can View Source in Chrome. I didn’t know about Firefox! The link to the CSS of all the themes is especially helpful as well.

    I’m pretty sure I should be able to figure this out eventually. :)
