Changing colour of comments/responses on pages and posts

  I’ve tried everything I can think of, including custom CSS, to make the comments on my pages and posts readable. Nothing has worked to change the colour of the text for comments/responses. I’ll try something, it will do literally nothing.

  So far I’ve tried changing the theme colours – nil effect. I’ve tried adding every CSS script I can find for this, nil effect. And, on top of that, WordPress has removed my ability to access the CSS theme editor. Though, when previously I had access to that and tried to change anything in there it also had no effect whatsoever.

  How can I make the comments on my posts/pages readable?

  Some info:
  Theme: Soho
  Plan: Premium, so please no plugins as I don’t have an extra 200$ to pay for the business plan that would let me use them
