changing contact email
-
Hi, many months ago I helped my friend set up his WordPress website. At that time I used my email address so I could set everything up, but now I want the website owner’s address to be used instead. I receive so many wordpress emails that have nothing to do with me. When I try to replace the current email address on file with the correct email address, wordpress says it’s already using the correct address…but it’s not. How do I replace my email address with the owner’s email address so I can stop receiving emails from wordpress? Thanks.

Hi there, if the WordPress.com website was registered under your WordPress.com account and not your friend’s WordPress.com account, you might consider transferring the site to them. If you need to be an admin on their site, they can add you back afterwards.
Let me explain a little more. If you are getting the “this email address is already in use” it means your friend has a WordPress.com account using that address. Meaning you can’t change your account email address to their email address.
As far as emails you receive, there should be an unsubscribe link in each email, or you can change your notification settings in your account settings https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/updates
Hope that helps.
