Changing custom domain from WP to new custom domain from Godaddy
-
I would like to change our blog’s domain name for “welcometothepogoverse.com” to “kryptoblog.com” which is from godaddy. Our account is up for renewal. Do I renew with the old domain then change the names after? Or do I not renew and then add the new name? We don’t want to lose our subscribers and content. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can either renew the old domain welcometothepogoverse.com or not. If you don’t, just keep in mind that anyone who had been going to your blog with that domain will not arrive there anymore. If that’s a concern, you could keep the old domain for another year and set the new domain to primary, and then the old domain will redirect to the new one.
However, the domain kryptoblog.com is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog:
http://kryptoblog.com/Is that your blog? If not, it looks like it was mapped sometime ago and the mapping upgrade expired, so I can delete the connection on our end and you can map it to your new site.

Oh thank you so much! Yes, I was so confused because we do own that domain and I pointed it from godaddy and got the message in your end that it was already pointed to WP and wouldn’t let me register it. So yes please delete the expired acct. That should allow it to work for me correct? Best- Jason

Done! You should be able to map it to your blog now. Let me know if you still have any trouble.
