Changing dark, transparent background on featured collage posts on main page
-
Hello,
Hello, I just purchased full frame—I need to find a quick CSS code or fix that would allow me to get rid of the dark transparent background on the featured posts on the main page, that comes up when you use the mosaic tile collage option. Please let me know. The blog I need help with is private until I get this sorted out. However, if you look at the main page of the demo, then scroll down to the Fly Fishing collage page, you will see what I’m talking about. I’d like to be able to set the background to white.
Thanks,
Lizzy

Hi there Lizzy,
When I click on your individual blog post titles, I see a white background. The same thing happens when I click on a blog title in the demo site. When I click on an individual gallery image on your site, I see a black background. The same thing happens when I click on an individual gallery image on the demo site.If you are seeing that your site and the demo site are behaving differently, could you please send me screenshots that display the discrepancies? You can simply upload the screenshots to your Media Library, like any other images, and I’ll be able to access them from there. Just let me know when there are images I should look at.
The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:
Thanks very much!

Hi Robyn,
Thanks for getting back to me. I’m not referring to the blog posts, but rather the main page viewers first see. If you scroll down the demo home page and look at the way the collage post that says “fly fishing” appears, the background image has been darkened. I’d like to be able to simply have a white background image (or a light image I upload and select as my featured image) appear as I use black header font. However, all my images are automatically darkened to a transparent gray colour. There must be a quick CSS customization fix for this? (hopefully!) Thanks,
Lizzy -
If you also look at the third preview post on the demo main page that says “Tiled Gallery” you’ll see the dark opaque background I’m referring to (which I’d like to change). I know it’s a theme feature but I had hoped it would be easy to customize.
Thanks -
An alternative if that’s not possible, would be a code to make the header text different colours for different posts, so they don’t clash with the dark backgrounds on the main page in the post previews (I’ve slashed the headers from the posts themselves, so they only appear on the main page in the post previews). Thanks.

Hey! I just got the solution from a wordpress staff member in a private message so I’m going to share. If anyone would like to change the CSS of their Full Frame theme to make the featured image backgrounds lose that dark transparent shading in the collage preview on your mainpage, this works:
.home .format-gallery .entry-inner {
background: none;
}Resolved!

Hey Lizzy. Terrific! I’m so glad you were able to get that code and that your site is behaving as you wish. Please let me know if there’s anything else we can do for you. Cheers!
