Changing date to English format
-
Hi,
My blog currently has the date in the American style, how do I change it to the English way, i.e. day, month, year. I’ve tried the codes but it doesn’t work?!?
Many thanks -
Click on the Options tab and scroll down. You’ll see a place where you can specify the date format any way you want.
-
Is yours a wordpress.com blog? Please post the url for your blog. The style in which the date/timestamp appears cannot be changed. The theme designers define how it will be displayed in each of their individual theme.
-
I did this rosclarke, but it doesn’t change the format on my blog when you view it. Is it because the template I’m using is set up with the American format? Although I wouldn’t have thought this would make a difference?!

g’day
Please read what I said above. :) You cannot access the part of the theme where the style of this is date/time display is defined and edit it. -
Yes it is a wordpress.com blog. my url is lslatcher.wordpress.com.
I may just change my theme, seems the simpliest thing to do? -

You can change your theme without any loss of data although you may have to re-align your widgets when you do. :) However, changing and changing templates to find one that may display in the English style sounds tedious. There are theme reviews that my help you. http://internetducttape.com/tools/wordpress/wordpress-theme-reviews/ -

I tried it the other day, and it doesn’t seem to effect the time/date format in the posts. I didn’t try all themes, just Mistylook and Connections, but on those two it did not change.
-
There are date/time format options on that page are:
Default date format:
Output: October 9, 2007Default time format:
Output: 9:09 am -
That’s interesting. I was able to change the default on Connections.
Mine is now displaying Oct 6, 2007 rather than October 6, 2007.
I changed it from
F j, YtoM j, Y.It uses PHP syntax. I had to Google to find what I needed to make it display the way I wanted.
I take that back. I didn’t use Google. I followed the link to the wp.org codex and then to the PHP man page.

Thanks for the heads up and walk through katm and atthe404. The OP is using the Regulus theme. I was unable to change the date format on my test blog using it. Hopefully she will be more fortunate.
-
tt I think we are all really confused now. Can you help us? What has the theme got to do with the date format?
-
You think you’re confused. I’m so confused I’m leaving this for you and katm to deal with. Please see what TSP said above. :)

-
Yes but the OP is not using either theme tsp mentions. On the same theme the OP is using the date options work fine. As usual.
-
This is mind boggling. I went back and used a different test blog. I put up the Regulus theme and changed the date/timestamp with ease. So now I’m giving up and making myself some coffee. %-(

I just changed my test blog to connections and changed the date format under options and it took this time. Last time I even cleared the cache and reloaded the page. I even went back to options and checked to make sure it had the “M” and it did.
[kicks can, mumbles… who knows these things?]
