changing display settings after images are attached to pages?

I’ve been asking about this but getting nowhere. One guy just said WordPress is susceptible to hackers who sometimes change settings. Great. I’ve been wondering if I should try to move all my sites to Square Space…

Maybe I haven’t explained the problem well enough –

Now I know how to find all unattached images. But how can I link all images to media files in display settings?

All images I recently added to pages weren’t linked to media files. I thought that was a default – didn’t realize I had to opt to link each one in display settings. I haven’t have to manually do that the past, for many many images on many pages in several WordPress sites. Why, suddenly, do I have to take this additional step?

As it is, I’ve created many new pages and none of the new images are linked, which means that viewers can’t zoom in to see the images – the thumbnail is the maximum size.

The only way I know to change the display settings is to go to each page and edit each individual image. That will take many hours.

Is there a way to change the display settings for all images at one time to link them to their media files?

    Thanks.
