Changing dns when the domain does not show up in my list of domains.

I am so frustrated. The support email address is unmonitored and does not reply to requests for help, the support phone line continuously hangs up, and the form questions don’t help me. I would like to speak with some about my problem. Why is it so hard to get help?

All of my domains except for Womenoftheway2011.com are hosted by Hostgator. For some reason, this particular one is not. I recently upgrade hosting to the cloud. When I did that, I had to rename the name servers. It is then that I realized that womenoftheway2011.com was hosted by Wild West Domains.LLC. I called them and the referred me back to WordPress.

I want to change the name servers on womenoftheway2011.com to the following name servers:

    cns167.hostgator.com
    cns168.hostgator.com

I cannot do this as per the wordpress instructions because the domain does not show up in my list of domains when I log it with KA1FUN, and none of the other logins work. Additionally, the sites listed are all hosted by HostGator, so why are they listed here? As you can see, I find this all confusing.

Once the names servers are changed and propagated, I would like to transfer hosting from WordPress to HostGator. At least there I can get assistance.

If possible, I would like to either have a phone or a chat conversation with someone who can help me. I don’t want to give my phone number here because it is going to a forum. My latest email address @gmail.com is on my profile.

    Please, please, please, help me!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When I follow the instructions for changing name servers, WordPress tells me that “Domains are not available for this site.” That makes sense because WhoIs says the domain is registered with Wild West Domains, Inc.

As I said previously, I contacted this registrar and they cannot change the DNS because it domain really belongs to WordPress. They gave me the contact email for WordPress that did not work.

So where do I go from here?

I just found out that neither WordPress or Wild West Domain is hosting my website womenoftheway2011.com but that CyrusOne is. I never heard of them nor, to my memory, ever accepted them to be my host.

I’ve tried to contact them, again without success.

How do I get the domain unlocked and the authorization code to transfer the domain to HostGator.

    Hosting provider: CyrusOne

I spent the whole day trying to resolve this issue. Hostgator said I had to get the womenoftheway2011.com site unlock at the registrar and get the authorization code for the transfer. The registrar, Wild Press Domains said they were unable to do this or give me access because IT’S A WORDPRESS ISSUE, not theirs.

I called Hostgator back. They can upgrade the account to the cloud until I get the issue resolved with WordPress. What they did for me is a bandaid. They redirected my account to the new name servers, but pointing from the old account.

I have tried ever instructions. They all start with going into my manager: https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/womenoftheway2011.com. When I do, I get the following message: “domains are not available for this site.” Around and around we go.

Please tell me how I can get the site unlock and the authorization code sent to me so I can transfer the domain.

I’ve added modlook to the tags in the right column of this page to bring it to WordPress.com staff attention.

CyrusOne is one of the datacenters that HostGator uses, so I wouldn’t worry about seeing that in your whois info.

    Thank you bookgirlmn

  • Hi there,

The domain, womenoftheway2011.com, is registered with us, through Wild West Domains, but it’s not registered to your account. Only the username that registered a domain can manage it, and your username is not even added as a user on the site connected to the domain.

The username that owns the domain is womenoftheway2011. You will need to log in as that username to make any changes to this domain.

I have tried to get a new password for womenoftheway2011. Each time, I receive an email to reset womenoftheway2013, which is not my account.

I have tried to reactivate the account providing two forms of ownership, but it refuses to reactivate the account because the emails on the account and the reply email match. Instead, it suggests that I use the reset password form instead, which does not work.

What am I to do now?

  • On the password reset form, what are you entering? The username, womenoftheway2011, or the email address you think is the correct one for that account? If you enter the username in the password reset form the reset link will be sent to the email address on file for that username and no other.

I don’t see any recent password reset attempts for womenoftheway2011, so you have not been entering the correct email address for that account into the form.

There is no username, womenoftheway2013, on WordPress.com, so it’s impossible that you could be receiving reset emails for that username.

Please log out of this account completely. Then go to this link:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

Enter the username, womenoftheway2011, and then check all the email addresses you own for the reset link.
