Changing Domain??

I think I lost my domain from another host. How can I purchase a new domain? Also, how can I know when the other is up for renewal from another site that took it? Or can I buy it back from them? I’m not sure how all this works and I’d really like it back.

You can purchase a new domain through WordPress.com by visiting Store -> Domains in your dashboard. If you no longer have control over your current domain, you can also remove it from your blog on that same page.
If your domain expired recently, your best bet is to contact the company you originally registered it through and find out what their policy is on renewing it after expiration.
If someone else has already purchased it, there’s no sure-fire way to buy it back. You could look into domain backordering through a company like GoDaddy, but there are no guarantees, and it can be an expensive process.

Thank you! I did renew my domain (through Google Apps they use a company called enom??) and it said it was successful but my blog is still not working with that address. Is it possible that it was taken and I could still renew it? Or can it take a while to go into effect? I’m sorry for all the questions.

If you did renew your domain through Google Apps, try following these instructions:

From there, you may be able to set the nameservers to point back to your WordPress.com blog. Instructions for that are here:

Thanks! I’ll give it a day or so and let you know if it’s resolved. Enom did say it could take up to 48 hours.
