changing domain name

Hi, I set up a site as a test using a slightly different domain to the one I want to use. I now want to change the domain to the final one, but I get a ‘sorry, that site is reserved’ message. I have tried clearing the history and cache but it doesn’t help. This may be my fault, as before I tried to edit the domain name, I set up a new WordPress account with the new domain name as the username. I have now close this account as I thought that was blocking the name change, but it still didn’t work.

What is the address you wish to use instead of hadswac.wordpress.com?
It won’t be possible to use a site address belonging to another account or connected to a site you deleted more than 30 days ago. I can double check on this for you once I know the exact address though.

Thanks for looking into this. The domain I want to use is haddswac.wordpress.com with a double ‘d’. -
@haddswactest that site is reserved by user haddswac, who incidentally just recently deleted their account.
If you’re associated with them, note we can restore the account for a limited time if they will respond to the closure email asking for it to be re-opened. Then they could create that site name, and add you to it.

That would be great – and would it then be possible to transfer my site to that domain?

@haddswactest if you or your organization haddswac, yes, we’d be able to help you sort it all out.
Just reply to the account deletion email asking to have that restored. You can either link to this thread in the email, or respond again here once the account is restored so we can figure out what steps you’ll want to take next.

Hi – the haddswac account has been restored, but when I try to set up a site, the only free domain offered is haddswac.home.blog. Would it be possible to use haddswac.wordpress.com?

On the first screen of the new site creation don’t select anything (http://cld.wthms.co/Yck2A7) and this will allow you to use a .wordpress.com address (http://cld.wthms.co/RWDVbX).
Please make sure you’re logged in to the haddswac account.
