Changing domain name

I want to change my domain name from NorthwestPanda.wordpress.com to “somethingelse”.wordpress.com.
When I try to it says that the site name is unavailable but I have checked the site and it says that the author deleted the blog.
So shouldn’t I be able to acquire this new domain name?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Once a WordPress.com blog is deleted here it’s gone forever and the URL cannot be recycled and reused by anyone again.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/If you are committed to blogging over the long term you can purchase and register a domain name via a domain mapping upograde. Then what the underlying .wordpress.com URL is won’t matter.
