Changing Domain Name

I have a couple of questions:
1. Is it possible to change my .wordpress.com domain to another .wordpress.com domain for free? For example, can I change http://idontwantthis.wordpress.com to http://thisiswhatiwant.wordpress.com?
2. Does it cost anything to do this?
3. What will this do to those subscribed and linked to my blog? Will they be re-directed to the new address, or would it essentially be like starting a different blog?

1) – yes you can as long as the new domain name is open
2) No charge
3) Not really sure
Note: if you do change names, Don’t delete the old name, several options go away if you do. Keep the old name.

Looks like if you keep the old name you can purchase the Site Redirect Upgrade and send all your old traffic to your new site (or you can leave a note on the old site that you have moved, depends on if you have many regular visitors)
