Changing domain name back to an old one

Is there a way I can change my domain name back to one that I previously used? The domain name is not taken.

If you have changed the address of your site, it will never be possible to go back to the previous address you’ve been using:
https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/
You can add a custom domain if you wish, that will hide the free address:
