Changing domain name provider

  Is there a way to set up a new website using WordPress before removing the old website but keeping the same domain name? I don’t want there to be a lapse of time where my website cannot be accessed by customers.

  Yes, you can first create your site at WordPress.com using the WordPress.com free site domain and transfer or map your custom domain when your site is ready.
