changing domain names.

I’ve been waiting all week to trying to switch my domain name I purchased from another website. I do not like your customer service. I running a business and you are basically taking two weeks off while I’m losing money. I would like to switch my domain name and I believe I get one free credit to switch names. This is frustrating and I don’t appreciate the fact you taking so much time off while people like me have to lose money. The domain I purchased from NameCheap.com is kickingitsports.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I’m sorry you feel this way about support of WordPress.com and it takes so long for you to get help.

I am not in a position to offer or even promise any kind of discounts/credit, as mapping a domain purchased elsewhere usually costs extra (you can read about the procedure here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/).
If you are having hard time reaching Happiness Engineers at the moment and you would like to stop losing money because your domain is not changed, I would suggest paying for domain mapping right now and waiting for response of WordPress.com support afterwards. Again, I cannot guarantee you will get a refund or credit, but it might be worth a shot if you need to cut losses caused by incorrect domain as soon as possible.

You can add a tag here and one of Happiness Engineers will contact you when possible. https://wordpress.org/support/topic-tag/modlock/

I understand your frustration and will help to resolve this as quickly as possible.

If you’re looking to map your current domain kickingitsports.com to your WordPress.com Site you can get started from the domains page Demo
After you’ve completed this process, (including payment) you’ll need to set up your name servers.

This step must be completed with the company you purchased your domain from (in your case it’s Namecheap). You can contact the support department at your domain registrar for help if necessary. If you are not sure what to say, here is a sample email you can send:

I would like to use my domain with a WordPress.com site. In order to do this, I need to point my domain’s name servers to the following:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Or you can do it yourself following the steps in this Namecheap Support Page Note that it looks like to enter WordPress nameservers you’ll need to pick the custom option.

It may take a while to for things to propagate but everything should be up and running within 72 hours.

I hope that clears things up.

  • The last link I provided is incorrect, I’m sorry.

    Greetings,

I just set up my free wordpress account. When setting up my account it gave me 4 site options to choose from (blog, website, portfolio, and online store). I selected blog. Now that I’ve looked at the layout, I prefer the website option, but I don’t know how to change it. And it is not listed in the settings. Can someone please assist me?

    Thank you:)

  • Hi there,

Sorry for the delay. I believe the last question is a duplicate of this topic: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/changing-site-setting-from-blog-to-website?replies=6
If you believe the answer is not satisfactory, please allow me a few hours to get to my laptop and I will try to find out what else can be done in this particular case, thank you.

  • Howdy rodsolo –

When I go to kickingitsports.com it loads a WordPress.com site now. The mapping has been established.

canwekickit1914.com is connected to your plan upgrade. kickingitsports.com does not belong to a plan and is just mapped to your account. Which domain did you want connected to the plan? And do you want to keep both?
