Changing domain URL and can’t log into WordPress anymore

  Hi,
  I purchased a new domain through Bluehost, pointed the name servers to WordPress and tried to update my WordPress account. I believe I typed the new URL in the wrong space and created a loop that redirects me to the new URL (which wasn’t properly set up in WordPress) and this prevents me from even being able to login to my WordPress account.

  The login URL shows the new domain…. which again, I’m sure I didn’t set up correctly. Any login attempts lead me to an error telling me as much.

  What can I do to get back into my WordPress account to fix this?

  We can’t help directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result, we can’t take a closer look at your site.

  Instead your host (Bluehost) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. The good news is that your host has full control over how to connect domains to your site, so if you reach out to Bluehost support they will be able to assist you in setting this domain change up.

  I’m sorry to hear that you have trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Bluehost.

  Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites hosted on our servers.   https://wordpress.org/support/ is an excellent resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
