Changing Domain when Upgrading Plan

    Hello,
    Just a quick question for those in the know. I currently have a blog with WordPress, and it is a free account (domain and web address is knowledgetobridgethegap.wordpress.com)

    I would like to upgrade the blog to the Premium plan, which seems easy enough to do. However, I would like to change the domain/site address. I plan on purchasing the domain I intend to use from WordPress as well.

    If I follow the instructions for upgrading my site (the free one) to the Premium plan, do I have the option to add the new domain I intend to purchase and change the domain/web address during this process? Or do I need to purchase the new plan with the new domain and then transfer everything from my free site over to the new one?

    When you upgrade to the Premium plan, you can add the new domain during purchasing process. So you don’t need to do anything about contents in your blog. The site contents remain, and only the domain changes from free WordPress.com address to the one you intend to use.

    But be aware that it’s not that you can get the domain you want for sure. It’s possible that it has been taken already. I recommend you to check it out via https://wordpress.com/domains/add/ if the domain that you want is available.
