    I am hoping to update my old blog website with a new Domain and Site Address.

    Do I need to purchase a WordPress Plan to change Domain names?

    If after one year I decide to cancel my paid plan, will I still be able to keep my new domain name and site address (as long as I keep paying for the Domain Registration)?

    I am hoping to update my old blog website with a new Domain and Site Address.

    If you want to change the domain name of your old blog website with another subdomain of WordPress.com then you can do that under the free plan only.

    Note: If you change the site address to another free site address you will not be able to use the old site address again in future or can’t revert the changes.

    If you want to add a custom domain to your site then yes definitely your site must be under any of the paid plans of WordPress.com. Please refer to the link below to know more about the plans.

    – If you don’t renew the plan after one year or you cancel it. Your website will no longer be attached to the custom domain it will revert back to the free site address.
