Changing domains within WordPress.com after Premium update

i want to upgrade to premium. Right now I have ediblepoetry.wordpress.com as my domain. If I buy a domain for example ediblepoetry.com and switch to it, what happens when people type in the old domain, or click links that other’s have posted on their website with the old domain? Will they be automaticlaly redirected to the new site?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Looking at my own blog (seanperryman.com), when you type in the WordPress.com subdomain (seanperryman.wordpress.com) it automatically redirects you to the top-level domain I have.

The only issue I potentially see is if people embedded image tags on other websites that reference your WordPress subdomain (i.e. <img src=”http://ediblepoetry.wordpress.com/wp-upload/picture.jpg”>), those may no longer work. I don’t have an immediate way to try it, but seems like a likely scenario.

As far as links go you should be fine, it will redirect from ediblepoetry.wordpress.com to ediblepoetry.com (or whichever domain you decide to purchase)

if people embedded image tags on other websites that reference your WordPress subdomain (i.e. <img src=”http://ediblepoetry.wordpress.com/wp-upload/picture.jpg”>), those may no longer work.

This is incorrect. BOTH URLs will always work, so media URLs with the long domain will continue to work.
