Changing Email

    Hello!
I used to have an account under my primary email, (email visible only to moderators and staff). I then made the account with my active blog under a different email, (email visible only to moderators and staff). I wanted to switch to my primary email, but had to cancel my emails for both, so I did that, but it is still not letting me change my email from my students email to my primary.

    Hi,

In order to use the email address of one account, let’s call it account 1, on another account (2), it is best to change the email address of account 1 to another previously unused address. This frees up the original email address of account 1 for immediate use on another WordPress.com account. The procedure that I’ve outlined is described in the Issues Changing your Email Address section of the Update Email Address support page.

I wanted to switch to my primary email, but had to cancel my emails for both, so I did that

I don’t know what you mean by cancel your emails. Did you close an account? If you closed an account in an attempt to free the account email address, then the email address will not be available until 30 days after the closure, as indicated in the Re-using an Email Address section of the Close My Account support page.

I did, yes, attempt to cancel them. That is a good plan, thank you. Will I be able to go back into account 1 and change the email after 30 days?

Yes, but you may also restore the closed account, which would allow you to do as I’ve described in my first paragraph above to make its email address available sooner, perhaps immediately. If you’d like to restore account 1 temporarily, please add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar at right here to call for staff attention. Staff will respond here if you do so.
