changing email address

  I have two accounts with wordpress, with separate email addresses. I no longer use one of the email addresses and would like to merge the accounts. I have tried resetting my email address to the one I want (in the account where it’s the ‘old email’ address that is currently held) and it won’t let me – says ‘there’s already an account using this email address’. What can I do? Thanks for any replies and assistance.

  Hi There,
  Here is a note from the support documents that can explain what is happening and why:
  “If you attempt to change your email address and find that it never updates after saving the changes, the issue is usually simple. The email address you are attempting to use is probably associated with another WordPress.com account. Because each address can only be associated with one WordPress.com account, it will not allow you to use the same email again.”

  The old account that you are looking to change the email address for, do you use the account at all or are you looking to make it inactive?

  Hi there
  Thank you for replying. Yes, that is indeed the problem – I set the accounts up a few years apart and used different emails for them, and now I want to kind of merge all my wordpress accounts into one, and use only have one email address associated with all the accounts. As you point out – I can’t change the email address to one that is active in another account, so is there are another way I can get around this problem?
