Changing email address associated with profile

Good morning. Attempted to change the email address associated with my profile. Message in red indicates “pending email change”–how long should I wait for the email address change?
Any more hoops to complete?

The email change required validation (via email). Once validated, the change took immediate effect.

I’ve tried changing the email address on my profile – I have a message saying ‘pending’. I don’t have access to the original email account – is it waiting for confirmation from the original email address?

Yes.
To confirm, you no longer have control of the email address that is associated with your WordPress.com account, correct?

Thank you for the response. I’ve tried that route but I’ll try again. Seems like if I can access my wordpress account I should be able to change my own email contact without requiring further verification. I can do everything else I want to do, just can’t get any notifications.
