changing email address n Users/Profile

    2 days ago, I tried to update my email address in Users/My Profile, but ever since then there’s a litte message that says “pending change to email account”, but it hasn’t actually made the change. ** My old email account has been closed (it was hacked).** How do I make the email address change go through with WordPress instead of being stuck as “pending”?

    I am experiencing the exact same issue. It has been over 48 hours and the action is still pending. I have confirmed the new email address. This seems awfully buggy… Please advise.

    Have you checked your email client spam/junk mail filter?

    Yes this is not an issue of not being able to find the confirmation email. I received it and I confirmed. It says the change is pending… pending… and still pending.

    Please be patient while waiting for Staff assistance.

  • When you change your email address, the confirmation is sent to the new address, not the old address.

    If you have trouble with just clicking the link, save the change again (so you get a new link) and copy and paste that link (don’t click it) into your browser’s address bar.

    I did receive the confirmation email at the new address and clicked it fine. That’s when the status in my profile area changes to pending. I didn’t have any issues with the confirmation. The issue is that nothing happens after that.

    If the status in my wordpress admin changes then it must have tracked that the confirmation link was clicked and confirmed. I don’t understand why this work around will help in this case. Perhaps you can help me to understand with further explanation. I hate to start the process over as I have waited 48 hours for it to flip the switch already. And I am absolutely certain that this email address is not affiliated with any other accounts. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

  • Pending is what happens when you save the change. Clicking the link is doing nothing.

    That’s why I recommended, “If you have trouble with just clicking the link, save the change again (so you get a new link) and copy and paste that link (don’t click it) into your browser’s address bar.”

    I tried the copy and paste method and cleared the browser cache before trying to login with the new email. It didn’t work. Thanks for the suggestion, it was worth a shot. Is there a way to have a Happy Engineer apply the change for me?

  • Not directly, but is it safe for me to send an email to the current address on your account?

    If not, do you have a different email address that you’d prefer me to contact you at?
