Changing email associated with site

  • Unknown's avatar

I mistakenly left out a letter in the email I originally provided when I created my site. I requested to change my email and received a message with the following link: If this is correct, please click on the following link to change it:

However, when I click the link it takes me to WordPress, but says that I have no sites?
Can you please assist me? Thank you for your time!

  • Hi there,

The account you’re using to post here is less than a day old and doesn’t own any sites. You can see and change the email address associated with this account on the Account Settings page:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account/

What is the address of the site that you’re trying to access?

Thanks kokkieh I’ll try that! The address is grandmasterofhealth.wordpress.com

  • I can see an attempted change in the email address for the other account just after you posted your reply here, but you appear to be trying to use the same email with which you created this account. That won’t work, as the same email cannot be used for more than one username.

But Gmail ignores any periods in the first part of your email address, so you can either change the email for this account to a version without any periods in your name which will free up the version with periods for the other account, or you can use the version without periods for the other account.

Thanks for looking into this. The email address I originally used is missing the letter w, and is actually incorrect. I would like to change it if possible, though I’m not entirely sure how, as my previous attempts have been unsuccessful.

  • Hi grandmasterofhealth – I can help you get this sorted. Please send us a note to help@wordpress.com from the address that should be on the account. We will then follow up with you asap. You can post the ticket id here for me to follow up directly.
