Changing existing blog
-
I am in a bit of a mess. I started the blog, knowing very little about WordPress. Now I am writing a book about the theatre featured in the blog, and I want to use the blog to construct the book, as well as to solicit memories from people who remember the time.
What I would like is a static first page (and if it could have a short video/animation as its image I would be ecstatic!); a blog page in which the entries ran from earliest to latest (i.e. in reverse of the normal practice); and a moderated forum where people could share their memories.
I have tried tinkering with the existing blog (which way lies madness…), but have to continue using it as it has been embedded in a website on the documentary being made on the theatre. Apparently it would be difficult and expensive to change this. As you can tell, I am a newbie to the WordPress World.
Any ideas on what I could do to retain the address and the current theme, which is nice and clean (though it doesn’t seem to cope well with tablets and mobiles)? It feels as though I am going to have to save all the writings (most of which will be in the book), delete all the pages and start all over again. Is this right? My various photos would still be in the Media area.
Thanks,

OK, I’ve managed to do everything so far. The only thing left is that I can find no way of getting my posts to display in chronological order (not the usual latest post first order). I have tried all the methods in the help pages, adding ?order=asc, and the shortcode starting with [archive… (sorry, my short-term memory is virtually non-existent, and I don’t won’t to go back to the page to check – I’m on a very slow connection in a cafe…)
Nothing works. What am I doing wrong?
