Changing Featured Page Text in Goran Theme

    Hi,

I just started using the Goran theme, and I was wondering if there’s a way to change the text of the three featured posts on the home page.

    Here’s an image.

I checked the actual page, and there isn’t any option in edit mode to add a caption or abstract. (In either the original or new dashboard.)

I do have the custom upgrade, so I can use CSS if that’s the way to do it.

    Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You should be able to add an excerpt to your post. This will enable you to write a caption for the post on your home page.

In the new set up, when you are writing a post, on the right hand side there is a menu. The selection for excerpt is second from the bottom. In this box you can write the summary for your post and that is what will show on the home page.

    Hi,

Thanks for the response! Is this feature available for pages, not posts? I knew I could chose the excerpt for blog posts, but the three features on the main pages are pages, not blog posts.

    Thanks!

No the excerpts are not available on Pages. They are only found on Posts.

Ahh, ok. Is there a work around for this? Alternatively, can I get rid of the blurb altogether on the front page – just have the image and the Read More button?

Hi, also looking for this work around for this problem!

  • We can indeed add excerpts for Pages as well.

Go to Edit Page screen to add page excerpts in the Excerpts panel, just like how we can add excerpts to posts. (Enable Excerpts panel from Screen Options, if hidden.)

Goran theme displays the excerpts on the front page just above the Read More buttons.

…can I get rid of the blurb altogether on the front page – just have the image and the Read More button?

Yes, just retain the call to action button and remove the page contents of the front page.

Your blurb “I have lot of thoughts. I’d like to share them with you” – is an image, not text. So you can just delete the image if you wish, from your page content. But a bit of blurb provides a heads up before your visitors can click the button. So keeping blurb is a good idea. But it is your blog, so it is totally up to you :-)
