Changing "featured" slider order on landing page for Dara theme
-
I have the slider working on my front page, but I would like a certain image to show up first. How do I change the order?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t. The order in which posts display in any post slider is exactly the way the theme is designed to display them, and that is in datestamp order according to the date of publication of the posts in reverse chronological order. This cannot be changed as we cannot use CSS editing to change how any theme is designed to function here at wordpress.COM.

Every theme has a detailed theme description page. This one is at https://wordpress.com/theme/dara and that’s where set up instructions for it and the live demo site link is found.

The published date and time of any post can be edited. By changing dates/times one may change the order in which the posts are displayed in the featured slider.
-
Yes but when you edit any post and change the date the URL is changed. That means the first URL that was indexed by the search engines like Google will produce a page not found 404 error whenever the original URL is clicked everywhere it appears on the internet and in search results. Consequently, there will be a loss of traffic.

You’re right, of course, and this would be a problem especially if she intends to replace older featured content posts with newer posts in the future. I hadn’t thought about the featured content items being replaced.

wvdesigndiva – since you only have pages in your slider – not posts – you can change the publication dates of those featured pages without worrying about the slug/URL changing, as there are no dates in page URLs. You can go ahead and make those changes without worry.
