Changing font color in posts

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi, so I’m currently able to change the font color of posts on different pages, but the css changes do not apply to the posts on my home page. The font color for the text is changing back to grey, despite the css saying white. I’m guessing it’s being overridden somewhere but I’m not sure.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @pdf272

    I have just checked your website. I can see that the text of the post in the front page is black.
    The text is black because you made it black from the text editor in your dashboard.
    By applying black color to the text, you have overridden the CSS code which is originally indicates that the post area text is white (see the second picture below).

    Check this image to see that you applied the black color to the text.

    This images shows that you did override the text color white.

    Go back to the text editor in your dashboard and type the text without applying any colors on it and it will show up white.

    Please let me know if this helps.

    Yikes, not sure how I didn’t catch that. Knew it was being overwritten by something, but didn’t know it was myself!

    Any idea why the font color of the title itself is different when it’s on my home page?

    Hi @pdf272

    The post’s headline color is black because there is no CSS class controls it, so it inhibits the default link’s color in your website. The following CSS code will make the post’s headline color White as default and Red as a hover effect.

    .post .headline a {
       color: #ffffff;
    }
    .post .headline a:hover {
       color: #ff0000;
    }

    If you want different colors, please remember that each color on the web has a code. If you want to know how to find the codes of colors, check this topic :
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-colors/#color-picker

    The CSS codes above should be placed in the CSS editor in your Dashboard.
    To access the CSS editor, first launch your site customizer then click on the CSS tab to access the CSS editor.

    Please note that the Custom CSS feature is only included in Premium and Business plans and you can read more about it here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/

    I hope this helps.

    @pdf272

    Sorry for the typo mistake of inhibits. I wanted to type Inherits.

    Yeah I’ve been using the css editor, was just changing .headline and not .post .headline though, didn’t realize there was a difference. Thanks for the help.

    Hi @pdf272

    You are welcome :)

    Sometimes targeting a CSS class directly is not enough, you need to access it in order to make effects on it.
