Changing Font colour and size of caption text

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m using the traveller theme. I want to change the menu and header text to black.

    Also I want to reduce the font size for the photo caption text, smaller than the main body text.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Menu text to black:

    .masthead .menu a, .masthead .menu a:hover {
    color: black;
    }

    Current header text is white. I think it is looking great. However if you wish to change, here is the selector. Change the color from white to whatever you please.

    header.masthead h2.description {
    color: white;
    }

    Current photo caption is 0.85em. You can change it in the following selector. You can also specify size in pixels, e.g. 7px.

    article .entry .wp-caption p.wp-caption-text {
    font-size: 0.85em;
    }

    Thanks for the response and kind words. Sorry not the white text, but the smaller light blur text above it. Where the words home, blog, the glossary etc… reside.

  • Let’s use the first rule I gave you earlier with color set to white, which is looking great.

    .masthead .menu a, .masthead .menu a:hover {
    color: white;
    }

    chaitanyamsv – Top man. Thanks I’ve implemented those changes, works a treat.

    what about the tagline colour ? i’ve tried common sense but that’s not working

  • Current tagline / site description style is:

    header.masthead h2.description {
    color: #6486b3;
    }

    Change the color code to whatever you please :-)

    Thanks once again. I’ve just realised that the photos do not get re-sized for tablets/phones.

    I’m thinking I’ll need a different theme ? hope not!

  • I can see them resized in my iPhone. The Traveler theme is indeed responsive. From the theme support document:

    Traveler has been designed to look good on all devices – from desktop computers and laptops, through smartphones and tablets (Android and iOS). Traveler looks awesome everywhere. This is especially useful if you’re travelling and only have your mobile device to hand!

    Unsure what made you think the photos are not resized on mobile devices. Is your internet connection good?

    OK that’s good then! :-) But yes internet connection is appalling, and why i’m more than a week behind with the blog, playing catch up.

    If you got time to read it. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks once again.

    The code makes no sense to me, but hey who cares. You saved the day.

    cheers )))))

    chaitanyamsv – sorry to keep bothering you.

    Are you sure the photos are resized? I’m not seeing them all.

    Are the captions centrally located under the shot. On our mobile devices here they are not ? a good shot to check is the ‘one hell of a river’ in the Karate blog. The people should be located centrally, it’s a panorama.

    Thanks for your feedback in advance.

  • ‘one hell of a river’ is not looking great: https://cloudup.com/cLiQZwr9ORv

    Yes as I thought, they are not re-sizing (((.

    On an iPad you get to see about 2/3rd’s of the shot.

    I don’t think it’s something to do with how i’ve uploaded, as if I use the PLANE theme they resize, but I don’t think it’s possible to have a summary of each blog on the blog page with PLANE just a rolling scroll, which is no good.

    Chaitanyamsv. Just FYI I’ve decided upon the Puzzle theme, over Beacon.

    Traveller is meant to be responsive but it’s not.

    Thanks again, I’m going to try and modify the text of puzzle as per your previous advice, prior to my next blog. Hopefully I’ll do it unaided.

    Cheers.

  • Your site looks cool in the Puzzle theme except for the row of WordPress icons in the footer.

    I think they are the categories, which I want to remove.

    going to make some mods shortly. Thanks

    Ok that’s sorted and played around a bit. All I need now is to change the font of blog or home, ? Displayed above each article, what is that called? want it same as header text.

    How is it possible to view the CSS settings for the theme?

    Thanks again.

  • Have you tried changing it from the Fonts menu in the Customizer?

    Please check Custom Fonts support document.
