Changing font for post timestamp and footer only?

    Stupid question, but how can I change the font of *just* the timestamp and footer on each post without changing the font for all the content as well?

    If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.

    Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

    If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

    If you do purchase the upgrade be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

    Thanks for the response. My CSS skills are clumsy, but I’ve managed to make the site look to my liking so far. The only challenge is the timestamp/footer fonts specifically – they blend in too much with my blog content and I want them to be smaller and in a different font. Any tips on which part of the css code that is? Thanks again.

    Since your blog is set to private and we don’t know which theme you are using, we can’t really help. At the very least we need to know what theme you are working on since CSS is theme specific.

    oh, oops! sorry, im new to this. i’m using the Sandbox theme.

    Sandbox is a little difficult to do remotely, so to speak, but the metadata under the posts are here.

    .entry-meta {
    font-family: arial;
    font-size: 0.9em;
    }

    My two declarations are only placeholders.

    oh! that’s great, thank you.

    sorry to switch it up on you, but after fiddling with the font sizes, i realize what i’d actually like to do is remove that long footer after each blog post — mine says:

    “this entry was written by potandpantry, posted on december 17, 2010 at 8:59 am, filed under uncategorized. bookmark the permalink. follow any comments here with the rss feed for this post. post a comment or leave a trackback: trackback url.”

    i’d like to keep only “by potandpantry” and “comments(x)” while deleting everything else. any tips for this specific request?

    Luckily Sandbox is designed in such a way to make this easy. Add this to your CSS

    .cat-links, .tag-links {
        display: none;
    }

    Thank you so much! That worked like a charm. Of course…another question came up though (sorry to be a pest). The code took away all those category and tag links from the footer of the posts, but when I click on the post header to go into the individual post, I still have that long footer I pasted above (“this entry…trackback url”). Is there a way to truncate this one as well?
    I appreciate the help! And sorry I have my blog private, but it’s for my business and I don’t want to make it public quite yet since it doesn’t look presentable. :/

    The single post page isn’t as well organized so I’m afraid it is beyond me. I can hide it all, but not just parts of it. This gets rid of everything.

    .single .entry-meta {
    display: none;
    }

    Perhaps hallluke will drop by and have the solution.
