Changing font sizes using the new formats & moving posts to another WP site

    I need help with two different issues–getting my posts to have the same consistent font size and moving older posts to a blog I created for archiving posts from all my earlier attempts at blogging. Some are good enough to keep, while I will discard the rest.

    1) I can’t keep up with all the formatting changes that have taken place, and one of my blogs, One Sunny Place, has been through a transfer change from MSN Spaces to WordPress. While some of my posts transferred over smoothly, others had weird things happen such as font sizes being changed, so I have an inconsistent look overall–example–font copy being too small in some of the blog posts. I still don’t understand how to do shortcode to correct it, and I’ve used shortcode a few times to change some things, but it’s hard for me to read the HTML editing format to tell what I’m doing.

    2) How to transfer older posts to another WordPress blog – In this case, I want to move some of my older posts to a WordPress site I set up just to archive earlier blog posts that I’d like to keep (The Shoebox Files). I’ll discard those I don’t want, as I’m making significant changes in all my blogs moving forward. Please help! Thanks!

    Hello,

    We should be able to help out with changing font sizes. Just to clarify, could you give an example of a post that didn’t transfer well, that you’re trying to change now? I’m seeing that this post appears to have a smaller font size than some of the others, but I want to confirm I understand the issue correctly.

    Here is some information about how to migrate (transfer) posts from one site to another:

    Start by following these instructions to export posts. (When following the instructions, select just the posts you want to archive, rather than “Export All,” which would transfer your entire onesunnyplace website.)

    https://wordpress.com/support/export/

    Then, import those posts onto your other site using these instructions:

    https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-a-sites-content/

    Let us know if you run into any problems with the transfer.

    @fractaldatalearning

    Yes, that’s exactly what I’m talking about re. the smaller print. You found a good example of what’s happened on some of the posts. I want to get all the posts consistent on font size. I’m getting rid of some of the posts because they are no longer relevant to what I’m planning to do.

    Thanks for responding! I’ll check out the instructions for migrating posts.

    Hi @sunnygal66,

    I did some digging into the HTML and CSS. I’m not sure why the difference happened in the first place. But as it is, it looks like there’s a standard font style that goes with the theme of your website, and then on the post “Tanka Poetry,” for example, that font designation is overridden paragraph-by-paragraph and set to be small and bold.

    I could share some information about how to edit that html, but it’s a little trickier than it would be if the change was made page-by-page. It also looks like you might be using jetpack? If so, they could provide more in-depth support for their theme and how everything turns out looking cohesive. Their support page is here:

    https://jetpack.com/support/

    Let us know if that isn’t fruitful and we can dig in further with HTML.
