Changing font, text size, and color

I’m using the basic WordPress version. Is there a way to change the font, change the text size, and change the color of the text, or am I limited to whatever design template I selected?

From what I’ve read you need to have either a Premium or Business Account in order to change font, text size, and text color.

Hi there. If you want to change font, size,… in a post, you can do as follow:
    https://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/

If you want to change the font and text size for your blog, you can do that in Customize mode
If you want to change the color of the text for the whole blog, you will need the Custom Design upgrade

I’m not understanding the response. For example in Blogspot, where my wife and I have our family blog, it is a basic free account.

To change the font I just click the font button and select the one I want. If I want to change the size I click the text size button. Same with color. I can change it every word in one sentence if I want to.

When I am in WordPress I don’t see a font button, a text size button, or a font color button.

If I have to have a premium account and paid for upgrades in order to do so then forget it. I’m just using WordPress to stay current with how it works.

There IS a button to change the text color.

But there is no button for the font and size.
That’s why you can only do that by using the HTML code provided here:

Formatting text pt. 5: color, size, and font

Hmmm…I don’t have that text color thing mentioned in the link you provided. I clicked on the link and it shows a text color dropdown menu where you can select the color you want.

Although I do have that in MS Word and Blogspot I am not seeing it when I am writing a new blog.

Here is what I have available when I am writing a blog in WordPress:

Bold, Italics, Bullet List, Number List, Link, Block Quote, Align left, center, or right

That’s the only buttons I have available to me while writing a blog.

I am quite surprised that WordPress doesn’t offer me a text color button so that I can select any text color I want.

Currently I’m limited to typing it in and when it posts the text shows up a light gray color since my template background is black.

Any idea why I don’t have a text color button available to me like I see in the link you posted?

The text color button is in row 2 of the toolbar. You need to click the toggle button at the end of the toolbar to open it.
The toggle button look like this ・・・

Thanks. After you explained it like that it looks like … I clicked on it and a 2nd row of editing tools appeared. Not sure why WordPress designed it like this. I’m used to having all the editing tools relating to font, text color, etc., on one toolbar and not two.

The fact there is nothing to indicate that clicking the … would bring up a 2nd toolbar is why I get upset at Programmers (trust my my brother in-law and cousin are Programmers and they never program stuff that is easy for end users to understand).

Since all those editing tools in both toolbars are items I would use in nearly every blog the Programmers should have designed it so that both toolbars are visible at all times.

Due to the Programmers making it hard it took me several days of searching, and it took over an hour of my time and yours, to come up with the concept of where the location was of the items I wanted to view.

Thanks again for your help. No thanks are in order for WordPress Programmers who made things so difficult. The concept is to always keep things simple.
