Changing fonts

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi

I’m working on improving a page of a website, it’s at:

    Welcome to DLHG

As you can see, it’s a mix of text and objects containing text, which I’ve imported from Canva.

I’d like to change the font so it matches the fonts used in the Canva object, but I can’t see any way of doing this. Can anyone help?

    A couple of points:

I’m told that the site is using the theme Maywood.
I am an Editor on that site, so I can’t change the theme

    All help gratefully received!

    Hi there!

You can learn about changing fonts on a WordPress.com site here: https://wordpress.com/support/custom-fonts/

This will let you choose from a selection of fonts we already have on WordPress.com. If the font you had on Canva is different, you won’t be able to add it to your site in your current plan. Using custom fonts that aren’t already in our selection of fonts require a third-party plugin.

There are many third-party plugins that let you add your own font. However, your site needs to be on the Business plan or higher in order to use plugins on a WordPress.com site. You can learn more about our plans and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/plans

    Hope that helps!

Thanks aisajib – very useful link.

Unfortunately as I’m only an editor of the website I can’t add new fonts but I’ll see if I can get the site owner to do this

    Hi

    One more thing:

I’ve changed the Global fonts for both headers and body text, it is possible to change the default font size of both/either?

    Thanks!

If you’ve changed the default font, you should have two buttons under the font now:

    – Regular
    – Normal Size

Clicking the “Normal Size” button should expose an options menu that gives you different size options to choose from: screenshot https://d.pr/i/DBAbGW

You won’t get pixel-perfect control, but the size options offered should be sufficient for your needs. Specifying a specific font pixel size would need a Premium upgrade or above in order to access the Custom CSS feature.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi csonnek,

    Thanks for the rapid response.

Unfortunately I can’t see a “Normal Size” button, please see screen grab at:

I have been upgraded to a site admin, but I’ve discovered that the Website is under a “personal” plan, do I need to get the site owner to upgrade to “premium” to see a “normal” button?

  • Hi there,

The screenshot you attached was taken in the Block Editor. The one that csonnek was referring to is found in the Customizer.

    https://wordpress.com/customize/

This is where you can customize your theme. Visit the link and click Fonts.

@garrypaulbrooks @csabarakasz is correct – I was referring to setting your global fonts in the Customizer, not the post editor.

Also, you have an open support ticket with WordPress.com staff (ticket number 4198579) where you’ve already been working with them on your site layout and design.

Since you have a paid plan, it’s best to continue working with priority support in order to get your site set up the way you need. Feel free to reply to your existing email with them with this and any other questions you may have.

    Thanks!
