Changing fonts
-
I can not figure out how to change my font. I have read everything… I could find… and it is not letting me “easily customize my font”. I have purchased the $25 Typekit, put in the correct domain name there, the font list I selected now appear on my wordpress page for custom fonts. I entered my Typekit Kit ID #iyv5xcw correctly, and clicked on adding it to the blog. Does it get added to the standard page? I didn’t see it. I cannot get to the place to enter it into the composing page for Title, post heading and body. I have always thought there should be a font selection in the kitchen sink, but that was not to be. I would think this custom font would appear somewhere. I would like to change the type of font on occasion, depending on the writing. Sorry to be so clueless.
Thank you … Ted Strutz

Hi there,
I do see custom fonts enabled on your site. You can change these by visiting you Custom Design / Fonts page (Dashboard > Appearance > Custom Design / Fonts Tab)
https://tedstrutz.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-fontsI hope this helps!

Thanks, Zandy… I can get to that page, but my custom fonts do not appear in the list… or am I missing them? And, I cannot get that page to work on the advanced font page. I want to use ‘Oxtail’ which is in my typekit. I am sure I have put in the correct name in the domain. It shows up on the advance page, but nowhere to get it in play. The whole typekit thing is a little confusing. What I really wanted to use is the ‘American Typewriter’ font, but I can’t find it. I wanted it to look like an old fashioned typewriter.
Thanks for your help… Ted -
Hi Ted,
Ah, ok. No problem! You can still use them, but since you want to use “special” fonts (we have a “standard” list of fonts that you can enable with one click), you’ll have to do a little work in Typekit:
http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/6840#advanced-modeOne thing you’ll have to do if your fonts aren’t showing up where you’d like to see them is to be sure to identify selectors in your Typekit kit editor. So, if you want Oxtail as your H1 (headers) tag, you need to include “h1” (without the quotes) as the selector in Typekit. If you want American Typewriter font for your paragraphs, you’d want to include the “p” selector.
If you’ve done this already, then double check to make sure that you’ve included tedstrutz.com, *.wordpress.com in the domains for your kit.
I can’t check your Typekit kit editor for you, but I’m happy to keep helping you as best I can if you need additional help as you step through this process! Just let me know where you get hung up, and I’ll help as I can.
Cheers!

Hi Zandy… Still working on my fonts… maybe too much trouble for what it’s worth, as I’m not having much success. But, I have a more important problem…
My daughter Ashley used to get email notices of my blogs. They stopped. She tried again and here is the email she got… I had her forward it to me… https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?hl=en&shva=1#inbox/13c9262bca148c62 …
This is the message she got when she opened it…

Hi Ted,
I’m very sorry you’re still having an issue with fonts!
Can you tell me Ashley’s username (or have her post here? That would be better, actually). I can’t open the email, and I don’t see a user associated with that email address.
Cheers!

Ashley is not registered with WordPress. She was on the email list. We put her in again and got the email saying her subscription could not be activated and may have expired. I see her email was ‘redacted’ in the copy of the message you got. Her email is… (email visible only to moderators and staff)… does that help in checking? She does not show up on my list of subscribers.
Thanks, Ted

Hi Ted,
That seems to be the problem, then; Ashley will need to start an account. This may be a change from the last time she was able to subscribe, which is how her subscription “expired” – there may have been a period of time that users were grandfathered in.
Here’s a little bit more of the benefits account users get when they follow blogs:
