    Can anyone help me change the footer text with wordpress credit to read as follows:

    copyright (symbol) 2015 Joanne Snyder. All rights reserved
    Powered by WordPress.com. The Sela Theme

    I would also like the footer to be thinner (to match the menu bar), with smaller text
    Thanks

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @courage4vision, you are not allowed to edit or hide the WordPress.com and theme footer credits per our Terms of Service (#11). Even the VIP sites here at WordPress.com (CNN, Time, etc.) are required to keep the footer credits. See the Frequently Asked Questions on the Custom Design support page for more information.

    You are allowed to restyle the footer credits to better fit with your design as long as they remain readable. If you need help restyling or adding to the existing footer credits, let me know.

    Thanks for the response. I’m not asking to lose the footer credit. It’s entirely fair that wordpress get the credit. I am simply asking to change the words “Blog at WordPress.com” to “Powered by WordPress.com
    Which is precisely what Time has on their footer.

    I don’t have a blog, so I just don’t want it to say that. Thanks
    I would still appreciate help re-styling

    Sorry, we cannot alter the wording of the footer credits here at WordPress.com. Powered by WordPress implies that the site is a self-hosted site using the software from WordPress.org.

    Time is on the WordPress.com VIP Program and things are a little different for the VIP Program.

    Let’s try a bit of restyling and see if this is more acceptable. First, modify your .site-info:before rule to the following

    .site-info::before {
        content: "©Joanne Snyder 2015";
        font-size: 120%;
        font-weight: bold;
        margin: 0 auto;
        padding-bottom: 10px;
    }

    and then add the following above that rule in your custom CSS

    .site-info, .site-info a {
        font-size: 90%;
        color: #ddd;
    }

    Thankyou. Looks better. I would still like the footer to be thinner (less deep)?

    Hi courage4vision

    This custom CSS should help. You can alter the 10px values to adjust the top and bottom padding of the footer.

    .site-footer {
        padding: 10px 34px 10px 34px;
    }

    Thanks again. All good!
