Changing from a blog to a website

  • Unknown's avatar

I just created a blog called Positional Therapy. What I really want is a website, not a blog. When I went to delete the site, it said I could not reuse the name. Is there any way I can switch it from a blog to a website without losing the name?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey there!

No problem at all. In fact, I’m thrilled your didn’t delete the site!

You will need to create a static front page and assign that to your site:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

In those instructions, when you come to the step where you’re asked to select a page to publish Blog Posts, don’t choose one. You won’t need one, if you’re not planning on posting.

That should do the trick! If I can help in any other way, please drop me a line. Cheers :)

    Hi thatrobyn,
Glad to have you back. You were so helpful with my last issue.
I think I did create a static front page, because it gave me the option during the setup of the particular theme I chose. If I don’t bother to set up a page that says posts or blog, then the site will just act like a website? Just wanting to be sure I understand you.
    Thanks for your help!

Different topic, but I have created pages and they aren’t displaying when I look at the site, and can’t figure out why. Any suggestions?

I’m seeing all of your pages in your menu at the top of the page and in your sidebar. If there is a page you aren’t seeing could you let me know what it’s called so I can investigate for you? Thanks!

I have two different sites I am managing. One is trilliumsingers, which is fine, the other is positional therapy, which is not showing any of the pages, and when I searched it online, it didn’t show up. I can only access it from “My Sites”.
    Thanks.

Thanks for clarifying. I see you added pages to your menu here

    https://positionaltherapy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php

In order for the menu to be created, you need to click the create menu button. Once you do that, you’ll be able to decide where the menu should appear using the manage locations tab at the top of the page. (That tab won’t appear until after you create/save the menu)

the other is positional therapy, which is not showing any of the pages, and when I searched it online, it didn’t show up. I can only access it from “My Sites”.

The url of the site is https://positionaltherapy.wordpress.com/. You and your visitors can access it from there right now. The site is brand new and so it’s not showing up in search results yet. In a week or two you’ll be able to find it by searching.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
