Changing from a wordpress site to a wordpress blog while keeping the same domain name

Hi, I decided I wanted to set up an online presence for some intolerance-friendly baking recipes and went with a website as I thought it might be sensible to use something I could grow with. I’m now thinking a blog would have been much better, at least to begin with, but is there any way to keep the same domain name but switch from a wordpress site to a blog? I use the username elsewhere and don’t want to lose the domain name! Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

What’s the address of the site you are referring to? The site https://whenlifegavemelemonsweb.wordpress.com/ is a blog, and it is also a website. If you are referring to this site, then how would you like to change it so that it is more like the blog that you envision?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply :)

Yes that’s the site, I managed to create a blog page/subsection, but was struggling to publish blog posts (recipe posts) under/within the page. The only way anything seems to show up in the blog section of the site is if I edit the static blog homepage itself. So that’s what made me think perhaps a straightforward blog would be simpler! If there’s an easy way to publish recipe blog posts under the blog section of the website that would also be great.

    Thank you!

The front page of your site is set to display the latest posts. So, the front page is the blog page.

The site doesn’t have a static homepage.

There can be only one blog page on a WordPress.com site. If you want the blog page to be somewhere other than on the front page, then the course to take would be to (1) set a static front page, and (2) assign another page as the blog page. See the Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page) support page for instructions on taking each of these actions.

    Home menu item issue:
This is the homepage: https://whenlifegavemelemonsweb.wordpress.com/, but the “Home” menu item is linked to a static page titled “Home” that is empty. If you intend to set a static page, as described in the support page linked to above, then you may assign the static page titled “Home” as the front page (or homepage), and the static page titled “Blog” as the blog page.

Here’s a list of 19 free WordPress.com themes filtered by the subject “food”: https://wordpress.com/themes/free/filter/food. You might find some of these preferable to the Dara theme, though if your recipes are going to appear in posts, then any WordPress.com theme can be used to achieve that.
