changing from lorieb.com to lorieb.wordpress.com
-
A while back I switched my blog from lorieb.com to lorieb.wordpress.com (for economical reasons) I have noticed people still link me to my former site, the problem is that site is used by someone else now and the content is not at all appropriate to my viewers. Can I do anything about this?

Hi there,
As you no longer own that domain, there’s not really anything you can do, no. And with your username and free WordPress.com URL being the same as the domain, people are going to continue associating that domain with your “brand”. That’s unavoidable.
Make sure that in all your official presences on the web, e.g. social media accounts, you’re linking to the correct URL, if you haven’t yet, verify your site with Google Search Console, and then make sure that you update your site regularly with quality original content so that your site will rank higher than the other one in online search results.
But the only foolproof way to dissociate yourself from the site now at that domain is to change your WordPress.com username and address, and optionally any other social media accounts where you’re using the same username.
